[ARCHIVED] Daytime Construction to Begin on Downtown Water Main

Daytime installation of downtown Elgin’s water main will resume Thursday, Dec. 14 at 7 a.m.

“Work was being done at night, however, we’re now moving into an area where our contractor requires the light of day to better evaluate live or abandoned water and sewer services,” said John Loete, Director of Public Works. “It’s important that we spot all budding problems.”

The daytime water main installation will close the northbound traffic lane on South Grove Ave. tomorrow morning. It will remain closed through Friday, Dec. 22 when all lanes will reopen. All construction work will be halted on Dec. 22 until after the holiday season with work expected to resume on Tuesday, Jan. 2, weather permitting.
