Students from Bartlett, Elgin, Larkin, South Elgin, and Streamwood high schools will provide entertainment throughout the evening to audience members in attendance. A change in tradition accompanies the event this year, as the emcee from each school’s own talent competition will handle the duties of introducing contestants and entertaining guests between acts. The ten finalists—the top two acts from each school—will perform during the first half of the evening. During intermission, attendees will get to be a part of the event, as they will cast votes for their favorite acts. The top five talents will then grace the stage again, performing a completely new act, for three celebrity judges to vote on.
First, second, and third places receive an award as determined by the judges’ votes and whichever school earns the most audience votes will have the honor of holding onto the traveling TalentFest Trophy, currently residing at last year’s People’s Choice winner, Larkin High School.
With the support of the Elgin Cultural Arts Commission and the U-46 Educational Foundation, TalentFest is open to the entire student population within the district. Winners from past shows are often asked to participate in various City of Elgin events and festivals. Aside from the prestige that comes with the greatest talent, this event celebrates the incredible gifts of the young individuals who fuel our growing community.
