The 35th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Breakfast will be held on Saturday, January 18 at 8:30 a.m. at the Elgin Community College Business Conference Center. Dr. King Community Food Drive
The 9th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Food Drive is collecting food through January 20. Drop-off centers include City Hall, all Fire Stations, the Elgin Police Department, most churches, Jewel stores, Butera stores, Elgin Fresh Market, Taylor YMCA and the YWCA Elgin. Food will be distributed to area food banks on Monday, January 20, 2020! read more >>
2020 Daddy Daughter Dance
Bring your daughter out for a magical evening of dinner and dancing. This year we are celebrating Princess Tiana from "The Princess and the Frog" at the 2020 Daddy Daughter Dance. The evening will include a buffet dinner, dancing, photo, goodie bag and raffle prizes. One lucky girl will win an American Girl doll and there will be prizes for dad too. Artist Workshops
The Elgin Cultural Arts Commission and Americans for Arts are hosting a series of artist workshops at the Hemmens Cultural Center that are all free, but registration is required. Workshop 1 is January 11: Audience Diversification and Development and Authentic Community Engagement for Arts Organizations. Workshop 2 is January 18: Administrative and Marketing Support for Individual Artists. Workshop 3 is January 25: Partnerships and Collaborations for Arts and Arts Organizations. read more >>
