Workshop 1: Audience Diversity and Engagement

Twenty years into the new century, arts organizations face ever changing demographics as the country’s population becomes more ethnic and racially diverse, younger, and less connected with traditional arts. How do established arts organizations identify and attract new audiences and effectively reach different population segments? How can you connect the arts to a population obsessed with all things digital? This interactive workshop will present information and allow for real life problem solving and solutions. This workshop is hosted by Dawn Frisby-Byers.
- Participants will learn effective marketing strategies to reach different audience segments.
- Participants will learn best practices for social media outreach and engagement.
- Participants will learn tools for authentic engagement with new and returning patrons.
Workshop 2: Title: Marketing Bootcamp for Artists
January 18, 2020
1:00PM – 5:00PM
How can artists stand apart in a crowded marketplace? Join us for a hands-on, activity-driven workshop which will equip artists with strategies and methodology on how to best utilize communications channels to engage target audience(s). Artists will learn what platforms have the highest return, how to use them, and how to track the results. We’ll also delve into how to create a well-rounded and achievable plan for success. You’ll leave this session with concrete and achievable takeaways that you can implement right away. This workshop is hosted by Ceci Dadisman.
- Participants will learn how to craft a communications plan
- Participants will learn how to implement best practices for each channel
- Participants will learn how to identify target audience(s)
- Participants will learn how to optimize and segment messaging
- Participants will learn how to communicate authentically to engage audiences
Workshop 3: Building Arts and Business Partnerships
January 25, 2020
1:00PM – 5:00PM
This workshop, based on Americans for the Arts’ pARTnership Movement, is a creative learning and brainstorming gathering to inspire collaborative and mutually beneficial partnerships between the arts and business communities, and encourage knowledge sharing of how businesses can leverage the arts to advance their objectives. This workshop is hosted by Jessica Stern.
- Participants have an understanding of what arts and business partnerships are.
- Participants develop a method for communicating their message to the business community in a mutually beneficial and accessible way.
- Participants generate ideas for partnering with leaders in their community to be advocates for the arts.
- Participants map their current work in the context of how it can advance business objectives. Participants map their current and potential business relationships as a means to exploring potential partnerships.
