About the Winners:
Andrea Jablonski, a Polish born multidisciplinary artist of Chicago IL, will be placing her mural, “Water Under the Bridge” along the Riverwalk, under Highland Avenue. The piece is comprised of local flora and fauna and will play with the river it is located alongside. When asked about her inspiration about the piece, Andrea responded, “Activating a challenging space and adding color to Riverwalk area was definitely a big part of my decision to send in a proposal. Local flora and fauna always interest me and working in new neighborhoods and meeting new people and collaborators makes it all worthwhile.” You can find more on Andrea by visiting her website: https://www.andreajablonski.com. Melina Scotte, originally of Argentina but more recently hailing from Oakbrook Terrace, will be applying her 2D work titled “Las Raices Del Alma” on the garage door of the Spring/Chicago Street Parking Deck. The work, which translates to “Roots of the Soul,” represents culture and traditions that are part of what we acquire as a person and what we pass on to the next generation. CJ Hungerman of Geneva will be putting his mural up at the lower level of the Hemmens Cultural Center. A medley of colors and a blending of flat shapes create a 3-dimensional surreal environment that presents a different experience for each person viewing it. “The medley of colors and intermingling shapes represent the diversity of people residing and making their home in the Elgin community.” You can learn more about Cj by visiting: https://cj-hungerman.squarespace.com.

The Elgin Short Film Festival is entering its 11thyear and the call for film entries is now LIVE! Know a short film maker? ESFF features two categories: Live Action and Animation. The top two films in each category, as voted on by the selection committee, will make the finals. The next three selected films in each category will compete to make the finals during the Elgin Fringe Festival, September 6-15. Awards and monetary prizes will be presented to the top three films at the live event on Saturday, September 21stat 7pm at the Hemmens Cultural Center. #ESFF #thetalkies
