Elgin homeowners can apply for funding to rehab their homes through Dec. 22, 2006 at the City of Elgin, 150 Dexter Court.
Property owners may qualify for a maximum of up to $15,000 depending upon household income to do everything from exterior maintenance to improving their home’s safety.
Funding is available from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the 2006/2007 project year. Applicants must meet federal HUD income guidelines to qualify with grants available to low and moderate income households.
A random selection of about 50 properties will be made by City Council with an eligibility list established for grant distribution after proper income qualifications and project eligibility is conducted.
