Veteran's Day Ceremony: The City of Elgin, in partnership with American Legion Post 57, will honor our nation's veterans during the annual Veterans Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. on Sunday, November 11 at Veterans Memorial Park. Pumpkin Composting: The City of Elgin will once again offer residents an opportunity to compost their pumpkins with a collection event on Saturday, November 3, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the parking lot located on the southwest corner of Grove Avenue and Kimball Street in Elgin. Elgin Gives, Giving Tuesday: ELGIN GIVES is a collaborative effort of community leaders in the greater Elgin area to bring the power of philanthropy’s biggest day, #GivingTuesday, home to Elgin. Pet Health and Safety Event: The fall Pet Health and Safety Event is set for Saturday, November 3 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the lower level of the Hemmens Cultural Center, located at 45 Symphony Way in Elgin. The event provides low cost vaccinations and microchipping to pets of Elgin citizens. Dogs and cats are welcome to this event. Save the Date: Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony: All are invited to the City of Elgin’s annual tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. in the Civic Center Plaza on Saturday, December 1, where Mayor Kaptain, members of City Council and Santa will turn on the holiday tree lights. The ceremony takes place at the plaza behind City Hall in the Robert Gilliam Municipal Complex.
