All Elginites are invited to attend YOUR Citywide Block Party, hosted by Elgin Police and Fire Departments, along with the City of Elgin, on Tuesday, August 1, to celebrate National Night Out. The goal of this annual event is to promote crime prevention and safety through police-community partnerships. Various Elgin Police divisions will be on hand to share information and equipment, including the SWAT and Evidence Response Teams, Communications and Animal Control. Elgin Fire Department will bring out their fire safety smoke house and put on an Extrication Drill using the “Jaws of Life” at 7:00p. Many Community Partners will participate as well. The event begins at 6p at Festival Park, with a K9 demo at 7:30p. There will be food trucks, antique fire truck rides, and “Jurassic World” on the movie screen at dusk. Lots of kids activities too!
