The Elgin Police Department will be hosting a Use of Force presentation on Saturday, April 1, in Spanish, from 12 - 2 p.m. at the Elgin Police Department in the Training Room.
In an effort to help citizens better understand police use of force, this presentation will give an overview of the use of force options available to Elgin officers, state law guiding police use of force, police department policies, and how deployment efforts are made. The presentation is designed to educate our community as to how the Elgin Police Department utilizes training to properly deploy force options.
Chief Swoboda stated, "In today's environment the Elgin Police Department recognizes that it is important for our citizens to know how and why Elgin police officers may have to use force and what options are available. This will be a great interactive discussion and we hope many residents are able to attend this event."
There is no fee to attend the presentation. Registration is requested. A parent or guardian must accompany participants under the age of 18. Commander Ana Lalley may be contacted at 847-289-2761 with any questions.
