[ARCHIVED] Registration is open for the Fall Spanish Citizens Police Academy

Registration is now open for the Elgin Police Department’s 2015 Fall Spanish Citizens Police Academy. The purpose of the academy is to build a better understanding between citizens and the police department through education. The classes are taught by Elgin police officers and staff and consist of informative presentations and hands-on experiences.

The program will be held at the Elgin Police Department in the Training Room, on Saturday October 24th, October 31st, and November 7th, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Topics that will be covered during the free session include: Overview and tour of the police department, patrol division, arrest, search and seizure, how officers respond to resistance, traffic laws/DUI, Tactical Response Team, K-9, gang and drug investigations, 9-1-1 Communications, processing a crime scene, criminal court and more.

If you wish to register for the class, or if you have any questions, you can contact Officer Hector Gutierrez at (847) 878-4705. Participants must be 18 years of age or older. Elgin residents or those who work in Elgin will receive first priority. A criminal background check will be conducted on each applicant. Application deadline is October 20th. Those who complete the CPA program will be eligible to join the Elgin Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association.
