[ARCHIVED] EFD / Community Crisis Center Winter Wear Drive

As part of the Elgin Fire Department’s community outreach program, Fire Station #5 is offering assistance to the Elgin Community Crisis Center for their Winter Wear Drive.

The Community Crisis Center is collecting new and used coats, gloves, mittens, hats, and scarves for men, women and children. They are also collecting heavy weight gloves form men and boys. The Center is especially in need of men’s coats and children’s sizes. The Center requests that lightweight or spring items, sweatshirts, sweaters, wool dress coats, not be donated at this time.

All donations will gladly be accepted at any of the seven Elgin fire stations, see link below for locations.

The Community Crisis Center is an important organization that provides safe shelter to numerous women and children each year who are homeless due to domestic violence, sexual assault, or financial crisis—often fleeing their homes with only the clothes on their backs.

The Fire Department requests the community donate any items they no longer need for this worthy cause. Questions may be directed to Captain Cummings at 847-931-6194.
