Due to Chief Swoboda and Commander Lalley participating in the Top Cop boxing event last fall - and winning - four of Elgin's youth will be provided with tuition scholarships (two $1,000 and two $500) from the National Latino Peace Officers Association, Aurora Chapter. The purpose of these scholarships is to provide educational opportunity to those individuals who demonstrate financial need. Scholarships will be awarded to students enrolled, returning, or planning to enroll part-time or full-time in a community college or university in the United States in 2014-2015.
