As part of the Elgin Fire Department's community outreach program, the staff of Station 5 has offered their assistance to the Elgin Community Crisis Center. Throughout the year, the station plans to partner with them in a variety of ways. Right now, their focus is on gearing up for cold weather by way of a Winter Wear Drive. On behalf of the Community Crisis Center, the Elgin Fire Department is collecting new and used adult coats, gloves, mittens, hats, and scarves. They also need new or gently used bath towels. Items will be accepted through January 1, 2014.
Donations may be dropped off at any Elgin fire station.

The Community Crisis Center is an important organization that provides safe shelter to numerous women and children each year who are homeless due to domestic violence, sexual assault, or financial crisis - often fleeing their homes with only the clothes on their backs.
The Fire Department is asking the community to spread the word and donate items they might not need anymore, with thanks in advance. Questions may directed to Captain Cummings at 847-931-6194.
