Community Assessment and Management of Persons needing Shelter
CAMPS is a community collaborative effort utilized as a tool to bridge the gap in services for those that are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The mission of CAMPS is to empower homeless residents in Elgin by streamlining access to services across all service sectors to ensure individuals are able to achieve their highest level of functioning. The City of Elgin community agencies, churches, hospitals, schools and emergency response personnel meet on a monthly basis to discuss current programs, current needs, and areas of improvement. Committees are established when a need is determined to allow research to be conducted and possible solutions and/or best practices to be considered.
