Our Social Services Unit is able to assist the Elgin community with the following resources and information: 

  • Understanding victims’ rights
  • Obtaining notification on court dates
  • Obtaining an Order of Protection or Restraining Order
  • Providing transportation to court events
  • Preparing victim-impact statements
  • Obtaining compensation for the expenses caused by the crime, such as:
  • Medical bills
  • Lost income due to lost work days

Crisis Intervention and Counseling, including

  • Safety Planning
  • Trauma counseling for individuals and their families

Individual Advocacy, including providing assistance with:

  • Finding safe housing or shelter
  • Intervening with a landlord, creditor, or academic institution
  • Managing your finances
  • Obtaining employment
  • Obtaining daycare for dependents
