Our Social Services Unit is able to assist the Elgin community with the following resources and information:
- Understanding victims’ rights
- Obtaining notification on court dates
- Obtaining an Order of Protection or Restraining Order
- Providing transportation to court events
- Preparing victim-impact statements
- Obtaining compensation for the expenses caused by the crime, such as:
- Medical bills
- Lost income due to lost work days
Crisis Intervention and Counseling, including
- Safety Planning
- Trauma counseling for individuals and their families
Individual Advocacy, including providing assistance with:
- Finding safe housing or shelter
- Intervening with a landlord, creditor, or academic institution
- Managing your finances
- Obtaining employment
- Obtaining daycare for dependents
