Elgin's Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (CPAAA) is a not-for-profit organization boasting more than 70 members who support the department through volunteerism and fundraising. CPAAA members are department ambassadors for the police department. Upon successful completion of the Citizens Polic Academy, graduates may apply to become members of CPAAA.
The alumni group meets bimonthly for continuing education, which includes presentations from the FBI, Secret Service, the Illinois State Police along with various departmental units. For more information, contact Community Relations / Crime Prevention.
Vist our Lobby Displays!
The CPAAA encourages visitors to come to the Elgin police department to explore the K-9 display and the eight lobby cases that host the department's history - from 1836 to present. All of the cases have been created and are maintained by the CPAAA Museum Committee.
Of the more than 1,300 hours that CPAAA volunteered in 2012, nearly half of those hours, about 600 hours worth, were accrued by the CPAAA Museum Committee. The committed worked on several display projects which included a replica wagon as shown below. In 2013 and 2014, volunteers dedicated 2,120 hours to our department.
