Theatre and Main Lobby


With no seat in the Theatre further than 100' from the stage, The Hemmens is a favorite of performers and patrons.

The sound console is located in the center of the Balcony. Please do not feed the sound guy!

The approaches to the Balcony offer excellent views of downtown Elgin.

All of the seating areas offer clear views of the stage.

The Hemmens' Box Office is located in the center of the Lobbies.

Access to the higher number seats and to the Administrative Offices can be found at the Southeast corner of the Lobby.

The Southwest corner of the Lobby is an excellent location for pre and post-event gatherings.

Access to the backstage area and the elevator to the Lower Level as well as the Handicap entrance can be found in the Northwest corner of the Lobby.

Hall, Gallery, Kitchen, and Rooms


The 11,340 sq. ft. ExHall is used for banquets, wedding, quinceañeras, clothing shows, auctions and more. The room can be divided into two sections for smaller events.

Located on the lower level, displays many pieces purchased by the City during Elgin's Fine Arts and Fox Fire Festivals.

The kitchen is fully equipped with the appliances needed to cater your event.

All of the dressing rooms offer ample counter space with lighted make-up mirrors as well as wardrobe racks. Dressing rooms 1 & 2 also offer private sink and shower facilities. DR-2 is a mirror image of DR-1.

The trap room is located directly below the stage and has five trap doors in its ceiling. Used as a chorus dressing room, it has several wardrobe racks and makeup stations.

Located under the stage right wing, the rehearsal room is commonly used as an extension of the green room. Several chairs and couches provide a comfortable setting for performers to prepare for and relax after performances. A semi-private production office space is located in the corner.
