There is a stray cat living around my residence/business, what can I do?
- The department does not capture stray cats. However, if the cat poses an immediate threat, such as the cat is ill or attacking someone, contact the non-emergency line at (847) 289-2700 and ask for an animal control dispatch.

- Never approach an unfamiliar, loose dog. The dog may appear friendly and curious, but it may bite a stranger who attempts to pet or capture it. Will the Elgin Police Department pick up a wild animal from my residence/business?
