June Cycling Events


Sunday, June 18

Ride with Dad 10 a.m. start. We will meet at the north end of Festival Park and go for a loop ride on the IL Prairie Path, Stearns Road and Fox River Trails. Upon our return, we'll hunt for ice cream.

Monday, June 19

Slow-Roll Elgin Ride (East) 6:30 p.m. start. We will meet in front of the Robert Gilliam Municipal Complex,
150 Dexter Court, and go for a slow roll through historic neighborhoods on Elgin's east side.

Sunday, May 14 

 Cyclofemme Ride Join BPAC on a Mother's Day bike ride on the Fox River Trail. Meet in the north parking lot at the Gail Borden Public Library at 4 pm. A special treat for the first 50 ladies to show up! Learn more about this international event at cyclofemme.com.

 Race Walking with Anali Cisneros 6:30 p.m. start. Top female junior race walker in the country and ambassador for the sport, Anali Cisneros will discuss her race walking accomplisments and her goal of making the 2010 U.S. Olympic team. Rakow Branch Library, 2751 West Bowes Road, Elgin..

Tuesday, June 20

 Movie Night at EPH  6:30 p.m. start. Enjoy food and beverages at the Elgin Public House while watching the documentary film, Reveal the Path. Upstairs in Club 217, Elgin Public House, 219 East Chicago Street, Elgin.

Wednesday, June 21

 Breakfast Ride with Elected Officials – 7:30 a.m. start. Join BPAC and elected officials on a two-wheeled exploration of the Fox River Trail. The ride will end with coffee and nosh at the Domani Cafe in downtown Elgin. Meet in front of the Robert Gilliam Municipal Complex, 150 Dexter Court, Elgin.

 Basics of Family Biking – 6:30 p.m. start. Parker Thompson from Elgin Bike Hub will share tips on how to get rolling, where to pedal, and rules of the road/path. Rakow Branch Library, 2751 West Bowes Road, Elgin.

 ZUMBA Class – 6:00 p.m. start. Zumba instructor Elizabeth Sotelo will help you get your body moving and your heart pumping through dance. South Elgin Branch Library, 127 South McLean Blvd., South Elgin.

Thursday, June 22

 Smart Cycling Clinic 12 noon start. Learn the basic rules of the road, components of a bicycle, and all the information you need to ride safely and confidently. Downtown Harvest Market, 200 North Grove Avenue, Elgin.

 Bike Maintenance – 6:30 p.m. start. Simple maintenance for your bike to get you and keep you on the trail. Rakow Branch Library, 2751 West Bowes Road, Elgin.

Friday, June 23

 Slow-Roll Elgin Ride (West) 6:30 p.m. start. We will meet in the golf course parking lot in Wing Park, 1010 Wing Street, and go for a slow roll ride along quiet neighborhood streets on Elgin's west side.

Saturday, June 24 

 Bike Drive: Give Your Old Bike a New Home – T9 a.m. to noon. Donate your old bikes and give them new life through redistribution by Working Bikes of Chicago. Rakow Branch Library, 2751 West Bowes Road, Elgin.

 ZUMBA Class – 10:00 a.m. start. Zumba instructor Elizabeth Sotelo will help you get your body moving and your heart pumping through dance. Rakow Branch Library, 2751 West Bowes Road, Elgin.

 Ride for Ice Cream 
1:30 p.m. start. We'll take a family friendly ride north along the Fox River Trail to East Dundee. There you will have your choice of refreshing ice cream or custard. Meet in the north parking lot of the Gail Borden Library, 270 North Grove Avenue.

 Biking to Library Day – 
Ride your bike to the South Elgin Branch Library or to the Rakow Branch Library and receive a special treat!

June 18 - 24 – Stop by all week to power-pedal a Bike Machine from Working Bikes of Chicago. Rakow Branch Library, 2751 West Bowes Road, Elgin.

 Swedish Days Ride – Now in its 48th year, the Fox Valley Bike & Ski Club’s Swedish Days Ride remains one of the premier bike tours in the Chicagoland area. Registration and event information at www.fvbsc.org


June 3, 2017 at 3 pm, join BPAC and CERL for an interfaith blessing of the bicycles, honoring this form of transportation, exercise and fun. A ride to Van's Frozen Custard in Dundee will follow. Meet at the Fox River Promenade on S. Riverside Drive in Elgin.
