The Bicycle Safety Campaign has launched Bicycling Ambassadors who are already hitting the pavement to educate residents about safe bike riding.

The Elgin Bicycling Ambassadors, a team of bike safety outreach specialists, are appearing at dozens of festivals, summer camps and block parties this season to raise awareness around safe bicycling. Ambassadors are providing information in English and in Spanish about the proper helmet fit, how to ride in traffic, how to lock a bike and much more.

"The more we educate the residents of Elgin what the bicycle laws are, why they should be riding a bicycle in Elgin and how safe bicycle riding is, the more residents will get out and explore Elgin by Bicycle," said Marjorie Gohl, one of the two Elgin Bicycling Ambassadors.
