Sunday, June 22

Swedish Days Ride Now in its 45th year the Fox Valley Bike & Ski Club' Swedish Days Ride remains one of the premier bike tours held in the Chicagoland area. Go to http://www.fvbsc.org/swededays.html for registration information. $

Trout Park Nature Hike 10:30 - 11:30 am - Join the Friends of Trout Park on a hike through one of the most unique natural habitats in Illinois … a rare forested fen. The area is designated as an Illinois Nature Preserve. Held near the baseball field at 576 Trout Park Blvd, Elgin.

Monday, June 23

Elgin Historic District Walk 10:00 am and 6:00 pm starts. Join local historian, Jerry Turnquist on an informative stroll through the Elgin Historic District. Both tours start at the First Congregational Church, 256 E. Chicago St, Elgin.

Tai Chi Monday at the Rakow Branch10:00 am start. Join Sufi Joe from Budokan Martial Arts for a demonstration of Tai Chi. Tai Chi is the most widely practiced martial art in the world. Please register at the Rakow Branch Library, 2751 West Bowes Road.

Tuesday, June 24

 Bike, Walk, Stop & Read – 6:30 pm start. All ages are invited to ride or walk to the Rakow Branch Library, 2751 West Bowes Road, to sit outside and listen to stories about biking and other outdoor activities. Lemonade will be offered.

Wednesday, June 25

Breakfast Ride with a City Council Member (or 2) Join BPAC and members of the Elgin City Council on a two-wheeled exploration of some of Elgin’s recently improved city streets. The ride will end with coffee and breakfast at The Blue Box Café in downtown Elgin. Start at Elgin Municipal Building, 150 Dexter Ct, Elgin. $

 Nature Walk at the Rakow Branch – 6:00 pm start.  Enjoy a nature walk around the Rakow Neighborhood prairie and wetlands with a local environmentalist. A perfect chance to get some exercise, learn a little about the area, meet new people, and get a glimpse of native plants and animals. Please register at the Rakow Branch Library, 2751 West Bowes Road.

Thursday, June 26

Bike Maintenance at the Harvest Market  Noon start - Stephen Pickett, from the Bicycle Garage will offer simple bike maintenance tips and answer questions for bike riders. Ride you bike to the Downtown Harvest Market, 200 N. Grove Ave.

Bike Maintenance at the Rakow Branch – 6:00 pm start - Bob Noe, from the Village Pedaler will offer simple bike maintenance tips and answer questions for bike riders ages 12 to 112. Ride you bike to the Rakow Branch Library, 2751 West Bowes Road.

Friday, June 27

Movie Night – 6:30 pm start. Learn about the history of bicycle use and manufacturing in the Elgin area. "A History of the Bicycle in Elgin: Bicycle Builders, Fashionistas, Racers and More." Then join BPAC in watching "Ride the Divide", an award-winning feature film about the world's toughest mountain bike race, which traverses over 2700 miles along the Continental Divide in the Rocky Mountains. Saturday, June 29


 Bike Donation Drive 9:00 am to Noon. Do you have bicycles that you have outgrown or are no longer using? Now is your chance to donate them to Working Bikes. Just bring them to the Rakow Branch Library parking lot, 2751 West Bowes Road.

Bluff Spring Fen Nature Hike - 10:00 am start. Join the Friends of the Bluff Spring Fen on a hike through another the most unique natural habitats in Illinois … a rare calcareous fen. The area is designated as an Illinois Nature Preserve. Park at the entrance into the Fen on the southwest side of the Bluff City Cemetery, 945 Bluff City Blvd, Elgin.

Family Bike Ride & Kids Craft – 3:00 pm start - Join BPAC on a family-friendly bike ride along the Fox River Trail and on quiet neighborhood streets. We will start at Festival Park. Enjoy kids crafts, McGruff the Crime Dog, and refreshments upon our return at Side Street Studio arts, 15 Ziegler Ct.

New this year at Side Street Studio Arts, 15 Ziegler Ct - It's COAST ... an exhibit exploring the multi-faceted stylization that is bicycle-themed artwork. All week long!
