Overview
The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners consists of three members appointed by the City Council for three year terms. The remaining two members will be the Fire Chief and the Police Chief.  Of the five members, not less than one shall be a female and not less than one shall be a member of a racial minority.

Powers & Duties
Powers and duties include:
  • Hiring members of the fire and police departments with the exception of specified upper management positions and promotions for sergeants and lieutenants
