Bluff City Cemetery sponsors three annual remembrance events that are open to the community. For additional information about the events listed below, contact the cemetery office at (847) 931-6135.

Memorial Baby Walk
The annual Memorial Baby Walk was started a decade ago for people who have lost a child to help families with closure. The walk features a half-mile walk to the baby land section of the cemetery. Mementos are placed in a small casket as part of the ceremony, and a chaplain says a prayer. A tree is planted in the area to commemorate the walk. The walk is typically held the week before Mother’s Day.

Memorial Day
Hundreds of United States flags commemorate the many veterans buried in Bluff City Cemetery along with a special Memorial Day observance.

Historic Cemetery Walk
Held on the fourth Sunday of September each year, the Historic Cemetery Walk is hosted by the Elgin Area Historical Society. Prominent citizens from Elgin’s history are portrayed at their grave sites by members of the Elgin Area Historical Society and other volunteer performers in authentic historical costumes and in character. Visit the Elgin Area Historical Society website for more information about this annual event.
