Mobile App Release Notes
The city of Elgin’s 311 mobile app for iOS and Android was built to help our residents better connect to city services and to the Elgin community. Version 1.0 was released as a beta on April 8, 2015 in both English and Spanish. An update was released on October 6, 2015. Stay up-to-date by signing up for the latest release notes.

In addition to several user experience enhancements, version 1.1 offers new features to help connect to your community even faster.

Key Updates 

Elgin Today

  • Mobile updates in Elgin Today now link to additional information, offering users the option to read a quick headline or click through to read more information directly from the source. 

Saved Contact Information

  • Contact information can now be saved directly in the app to auto-populate in each new 311 request so that no time is wasted when submitting requests.

Push Notifications

  • Users can now receive push notifications when city updates are made to Elgin Today or their 311 request has been updated. Notification settings are easily accessed in the Push Notifications option in the main menu.

Version 1.0 (Beta)
Release Date: 4/8/15

The city released its first mobile app in April 2015 as a beta, with users participating in a trial phase. Feedback on experience and key features will be incorporated into future releases. 

Key Features 

Elgin Today
  • The app's home screen displays Elgin-specific updates that are regularly changed to reflect key issues in the city. Updates may include temporary service delays, traffic disruptions, event announcements, and more. 

311 Requests
  • Any user can submit 311 requests or general questions, as well as add service locations and attach pictures to their requests. 311 Advocates receive each request and are able to update the status of the request and respond to questions, directly in the app. 

What’s Happening

  • What’s Happening aggregates more than 60 Twitter feeds from community entities into eight general categories, providing users with a broad perspective on what’s happening in the community. Users can share tweet content through Facebook, Twitter, text or email, without leaving the app.
