4th of July Parade Information


Date/Time: Tuesday, July 4th at 9:00 a.m.

Start/Finish Parade: Parade Starts at Slade & Douglas
Parade Ends at Douglas & Highland

Estimated Parade Time: Approximately 2 hours long

No parking on the parade route/staging area starting at 6:00 a.m.

Registering to march in the parade?
  1. Click to create an online account for the city's online portal.
  2. Please note: Must use Google Chrome to sign-in. 
  3. Once registered and in the portal, click "Events" tab located on the top right corner.
  4. Click on the Fourth of July Parade - 2017 Event to complete your registration. 
  • The entry fees are as follows: $25 per non-profit, $100 per business
  • Please have all float information available at time of registration (including insurance), because applications cannot be saved. 
  • Insurance: All participants in the parade must provide a certificate of liability insurance. If you are operating a vehicle in the parade, you must include a copy of your insurance policy with liability limits for each vehicle (indicating current coverage) with your application. Proof of insurance can be e-mailed to the provided address, uploaded directly into the parade application or returned to city hall, 150 Dexter Court, Elgin IL 60120.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
• Many downtown streets will close at various times to vehicular traffic over the holiday weekend to allow for a safe and enjoyable experience as the community celebrates Independence Day. Click here for all street closure details. 
• Absolutely NO coolers, outside alcohol or animals will be allowed at Festival Park for the concert and fireworks on Saturday, July 1.

• Shooting off fireworks in Elgin is illegal and there is a NEW ordinance in place that will impact residents who allow fireworks to be detonated on their property. Click here for more information.


FAQ's


Will there be food and drinks?
Absolutely! There will be many delicious food options as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink options available at Festival Park. Guests will need to show ID and obtain a wristband upon entry in order to purchase and consume alcoholic beverages. There are also four dining options within the casino pavilion.

Will bathrooms be provided?
There will be port-o-lets inside Festival Park, in the parking lot on Prairie and Riverside Drive, and in the parking lot on Riverside Drive and Chicago Street.

Where can I park?
Parking will be free at the Grand Victoria Casino garage, based on availability. There is also abundant city of Elgin free parking in several locations nearby. If GVC garage is full, guests will be directed to the closest available city parking lot. Click here to view a downtown Elgin parking map.

What can I bring inside Festival Park?
Blankets, folding or collapsing lawn chairs, and personal cameras

What can't I bring into Festival Park?
Bottles, cans, coolers, weapons or contraband of any kind, alcohol, umbrellas, laser pointers, frisbees, audio and video recording devices, cameras with removable lenses and/or professional cameras, skates, bicycles, skateboards, scooters or other wheeled items, and pets.

Where is handicap parking?
Handicap parking is located at the Casino and on Lake Street between Villa and Grove.
