Building Maintenance
The mission of the building maintenance department is to provide a level of maintenance that allows city-owned buildings to be used productively, safely, comfortably, and economically.

Community Restitution
The community restitution program consists of adults who are referred to the Elgin police department, either directly by a judge or through the Kane County Probation Department.


Fleet Services
Fleet services is responsible for the maintenance and repair of nearly 400 pieces of rolling stock within the city - including trucks, cars and specialty equipment.


Parks Maintenance
The city's land management provides grounds maintenance services to all city owned properties.

The public work's department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the city’s storm, sanitary, and combined sewer systems.

The street division is responsible for the maintenance of over 350 lane miles of city streets.

Traffic & Electrical
The sign shop is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of all city traffic, street name, and directional signage. The electrical division maintains the city’s street and historical lighting.

It is the mission of the Elgin water department to provide the community with safe, high quality drinking water at adequate pressure, reasonable cost, and in an effective manner 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
