Police Volunteer
On-Call Help
Be on call to help disadvantaged seniors and others in need during stormy weather or other emergency situations.

Snow Buddies Program
Help financially disadvantaged seniors in your neighborhood by shoveling snow in their driveways and walkways this winter. Volunteers will be contacted to assist in their neighborhood. This is a great opportunity for teens, service clubs, and youth groups. A brief kick-off meeting will be held at public works before the snow season. For more information, call Wendy at senior services at (847) 741-0404.

CERT logoCommunity Emergency Response Team

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) was developed to offer education and training to citizens wishing to effectively respond to emergencies that occur in the home, schools, place of employment, neighborhood, or any disaster within our community.

If you are interested in learning more about this program, contact Karen Flanagan at (847) 289-2533.

The Elgin Police Department participates in this program and trains interested citizens in applying basic response and organizational skills learned in our CERT classes. With these skills, in the event a disastrous event overwhelms or delays Elgin's first responders, CERT members can help sustain lives until additional help arrives.

The Elgin Police Department is now accepting applications from citizens who are interested in registering for CERT classes. The Police Department does not charge for this class. Download the application.
