Use your computer and administrative skills to help with special projects at the City of Elgin. Whether you enjoy organizing files, entering data, or answering phones, there are a variety of ways you can help behind the scenes in various departments of the city.

Location:       City Hall 150 Dexter Ct. Elgin, IL  60120

Time:            Monday –Friday  8:00 am – 5:00 pm


Working knowledge of a computer.
Working knowledge of scanner and printers.
Volunteers must be 18 years old or older.
Orientation will be required prior to beginning your volunteer shift.
Volunteers must pass a background check.

City Clerk's Office

If you have an eye for detail, the city clerk’s office at the city needs your assistance for records management back file scanning. Volunteers are needed to prepare documents to be scanned; ensure quality of the scanned documents; correctly place the documents into electronic filing structure; file hard copies of completed documents. The volunteers may also answer phones as needed.

Location:    City Hall, City Clerk’s Office - second floor south

Time:         Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at your convenience

Volunteers must have knowledge of Microsoft Office Products and office machines such as scanners and copiers. They should be detail oriented and committed to completing the project. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. Any volunteer under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. Volunteers must pass a background check and will go through an orientation and training prior to beginning work.
