What are my options if my incident does not qualify for online reporting? 

  • If your incident isn't eligible for online reporting or if you would like to speak directly to an officer, call the Elgin Police Department's non-emergency number at (847) 289-2700. You may also visit the Elgin Police Department at 151 Douglas Avenue to report the incident in person.

 What if this happened in another city, can I file a report using this online police reporting system? 

  • No, if a crime took place outside of the city of Elgin, please call the police department for that city.

 What if this happened on a state Tollway? 

  • If this took place on a state Tollway please call the Illinois State Police, District 15 (630) 241-6800.

What is a known suspect? 

  • A known suspect is when you or someone else knows the person, or where to find the person, who committed the crime.  Also, if a license plate number is known of the vehicle the suspect(s) was in, this would be a known suspect, as well.
