Summer Fishing Equipment Loan Program

Take a Kid Fishing! The Eastside Recreation Center has partnered with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to provide area residents with fishing equipment to enjoy all of the natural resources that our community has to offer.

Rental Equipment
The rental equipment includes fishing pole & reel combo and hooks. ***The fishing poles must be returned to the ERC at the completion of the rental.

Equipment Availability

Equipment is available from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Equipment pick-up and return times are as follows:
• Monday through Friday - Pick-up starts at 7:00 a.m. Equipment must be returned no later than 4:00 p.m.
• Multi-day and weekend rentals are also available. Please inquire by contacting the ERC at 847-888-1989.

Lisa's School of Dance


Fees: Resident: $40  |  Non-resident: $60  | Mondays  |  9/12 - 10/17  |  6:15 pm - 7:00 pm  | Ages 7 - 9 yrs

Explore traditional, Broadway and contemporary styles of Jazz in a fun, energetic atmosphere. Students learn the fundamental jazz steps and basic vocabulary through across the floor exercises and simple combinations. Attire: clean gym shoes or jazz shoes, comforatable clothes, hair pulled back away from face. No jeans please.

Class will concentrate on developing basic skill in the styles of ballet and jazz. Dancers will learn classical ballet techniques at the barre and center floor then move to a faster tempo jazz that will end with dancers learning a jazz combination. Dancers will perform a short dance at the last class. Attire: comfortable clothes, clean gym shoes or jazz shoes, hair pulled back away from face. No jeans please.

Hip Hop and Pom

Fees:  Resident: $50  |  Non-Resident: $60  | Tuesdays |  9/13 - 10/18 5:45 pm - 6:30 pm | Ages 5 - 7 years

Learn basic pom technique and the latest hip hop trends. The class will learn a shirt dance that will be performed for parents at the last class. Attire: comfortable clothes, clean gym shoes or jazz shoes, hair pulled back away from face. No jeans please.

Thrills and Chills of Ice Cream  

Fees: Resident: $47 | Non-resident: $52  |  Wednesday 11/9 |  6:00 - 8:300 pm |  Ages 6 – 12 yrs.  

Exploring and eating ice cream is a fun way to introduce early physics and chemistry concepts to children. Become an expert on this beloved treat and then sit down for the most outrageous ice cream eating contest in town! Did anyone say BRAIN FREEZE? Ice Cream themed games too. Bonus material: Learn the history and science of the amusement park treat Dippin Dots. Ice cream themed souvenir included.

Safe on My Own

Fees:  Resident: $10  | Non-Resident: $12 | Monday 8/8 |  7 - 8 pm  |  Ages 7 – 11 yrs.

Someday you may be alone at home. In this class, we'll cover the skills necessary to be in charge when home alone. Kids will learn valuable Red Cross safety information as well as how to recognize, prevent and prepare for emergencies. Internet safety will also be covered.

Babysitting for Success

Fees:  Resident: $31  | Non-Resident: $36 | Saturday 11/12 |  7 - 8 pm  |  Ages 10  – 15 yrs.

Learn the skills to safely care for children, basic first aid, emergency management and fun activities for all ages. Group and teacher led discussions and role playing during class allow you to participate in every aspect of the class. There will be a DVD presentation and special activities throughout class. Please bring a doll and a healthy snack.

ERC campDay Camp

ERC Summer Camp

Fees: Resident $85 per week | Non-Res: $95 per week | 8 am - 3 pm | Ages 6 - 13

The ERC promotes a healthy lifestyle through fun active play. Campers will learn new age appropriate games, create unique craft projects and meet new friends. This camp will go swimming at Lord's Park Pool on Tuesdays and Thursdays, weather permitting. Campers will be provided with swim lessons on these days. There is one scheduled field trip per week. Field trips are included in the price and details will be given the Monday of each week. Breakfast and lunch are provided daily by Northern Illinois Food Bank.You may send additional beverages with your camper each day. Camp activities will vary daily and are subject to change. Please have you camper wear tennis shoes and bring the following to camp: backpack, snack, swimsuit, towel, spray on only sunscreen and a water bottle. Monday, Wednesday and Friday camp will be held at the ERC. Tuesday and Thursday campers are to be dropped off at the lower level of the Lord's Park Pavilion and picked up at the Lords Park Pool. No camp on July 4 - 8.

ERC Little Learners Camp 

Fees: Resident $85 per week | Non-Res: $95 per week | 8 am - 3 pm | Ages 3 - 5 yrs

This camp is great for children transitioning from half-day preschool or kindergarten to a full day program in the fall. Chidren will play games, create craft projects as well as participate in structured playtime both inside and outdoors. They will learn the importance of cooperation, listening and sharing. Camp activities will vary daily and may include trips to the library or other local areas and occasionally watch movies. This camp may also occasionally play water related games or have water fun days - they do not go swimming. Breakfast and lunch are provided by the Northern Illinois Food Bank. All activities are subject to change. Children must be toilet trained prior to attending camp. Please have your child wear tennis shoes and bring a backpack, snack, spray on only sunscreen and a water bottle each day. Camp will be held at the ERC.
