Each year, the City of Elgin Human Relations Commission takes great pride in presenting a weekend of activities celebrating the life of one of our country’s greatest civil rights leaders, the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Stay tuned for announcements of the 2019 celebration.

MLK Scholarship Application - Available Now

The Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship is awarded annually to Elgin students who have demonstrated an active interest and meaningful involvement in the areas of human rights, civil rights, social justice and/or world peace. Scholarships may also be awarded to students whose activities are exemplary and reflect the ideals and life of Dr. King.    Multiple scholarships are awarded based upon the number of applicants and the quality of the submissions.  New this year, scholarships may be awarded to students outside of the Elgin area.
